Hi Tom,
The bike is alive and very well. The porting and pipes get rave
reviews whenever they are heard or seen. Massive mid
range power improvement and wonderful top end. She
is dead reliable and a real hoot to ride. You do amazing work
and I couldn't be happier. I am attaching a zip file if photos.
Let me know if you need different poses.

Hey Tom:
Lectrons are very close but i put new
tires on and i will need to break the tires in first before I get
crazy on it. Low end power is
insane and when you hit 6000 rpm the surge in power will tear you
off the bike...

Dear Tom
First of all I have to thank you for what your pipes made to
my bike. Ebos in Sweden have
tuned it and together with pipes it gave a awesome engine
performance. You have the bike on your home site, golden
1972...
Best Regards
Olle
Hello Tom.
The pipes works very good! I havent done any
comparision between FBG and your pipes yet. I will do that when
you have sent me a kit for my own streetbike. Just for your
knowledge: the sound is beautiful but too loud to be allowed
on the streets in Sweden. The attached diagram shows a ebos
street stage 2 ported engine with Tomcat pipes. Its rearwheelhorses.
Torque 11,5kg. We are going to present the
pipes on our new updated website
this autumn. Together with pictures and diagram on the powercurves
etc. ...I would like to order a kit now, exhaustportduration
is the same as to the kit we ordered last time).
Best regards,

Fat power producing chambers are the future! Throw that little skinny
junk away! Expansion chambers are supposed to expand! Why
is your vintage bike not worthy of a new-gerneration chamber? All
of the new-Generation chambers are built from scratch and are not
copies. The proof is in the pudding!

FatCat Chambers have a very broad power range unlike old outdated
skinny pipes. They improve the engine's power characteristics from
idle to redline. Your bike will be much easier to ride in town and
a missle when on the throttle hard. Just ask around! The proof is
in the pudding.

All I can say is WOW! Waaaaaay more power all
the way around. I need to play with some bigger power-jets and a needle
adjustment. But holy h*ll, what a difference, Its a totally different
beast. Stay "tuned"...
...It pulls HARD to about 10.5. Way more torque down low as well.
With the old pipes, I had a flat spot between 4-6, that's all gone.
Wheelies at 70mph? No problem!
...I just got back from the first ride. WOW! It makes a bunch more
power over a wider rpm range. I could feel it as soon as I pulled
out of the driveway. Need to fatten up the jetting. I'm gonna try
bigger powerjets... They look and fit
great!! More later MD (Matt Chalmers) I just went from 70 to 75 powerjets
and it pulls even harder. I don't have anything bigger on hand, (I
want to try 80 and 85s) Gotta call Sudco in the am!I love this bike
now. I was going to de-tune it because the pipes didn't work. Now,
I think I'm going to port it even more and add more squish to the
heads.

Tom, the bike ran great
today! I had another friend ride the bike today. He has an H2 &
S3. His comments were " I can't believe the level of performance
while maintaining such excellent low end drivability". I did a
50 ft wheelie today! I shifted into second & the wheel popped up
again! We put a serious hurting on my clutch! It started slipping after
the thrashing we gave it! The frictions, steels & springs are new.
It just could not take the extra power. I have some springs that are
20% stiffer than stock that I am going to try. I also took some great
outdoor pics of the bike today I need to send you. - Ed

Tom, it definitely pulls better than the dencos or spec
2's. I went for a ride this AM on some country roads. It pulls very
well at high rpm. The power does not fall off like the other pipes.
Everything you told me about them is true. I am very happy with them.
They are well worth the money. - Ed

Hi Tom, I just wanted to say that I have been extremely happy with your
pipes. I was shopping around for a set of pipes for my H2 when you started
selling them. I wanted to replace my J&R Power Pipes with something
more attractive. I had heard Ed Zunz rave about your pipes and I still
hadn't made up my mind. Then I bought a bike that Ed was selling for
a friend of his and it had no exhaust (Bill Wirges pipes were there,
but broken and rusted). Now I had to make a decision...2 bikes and only
1 exhaust system, so I needed pipes right then. On Ed's recommendation,
I ordered your pipes instead of the SpecII pipes I had been leaning
towards (hey, they worked great on my RD400). Your price was not much
more, and Ed said they worked much better than his SpecIIs, so what
the hell, I'll give them a try, and you offered my money back if I didn't
like them.
Two weeks later, I drive
to Florida to pick up the H2 from Ed.
H1 Pipe review:
He immediately hands me
the keys to 3 of his H1s. One with SpecII pipes, 1 with Denco's, and
1 with your pipes and tells me to compare them. He says he's tired of
everyone saying that he's nuts, that a set of handmade pipes can't possibly
be as good as what he is saying, and he want's my unbiased opinion.
All three bikes are stock other than the pipes. I rode all three bikes
over the course of the weekend that I was there. On the H1, I cannot,
in all honesty, say what they would do on the top end. I didn't rev
Ed's bikes over 8000...they weren't mine to take a chance on breaking.
What I did notice is that your pipes came on at around 5500 and pulled
stronger than the SpecIIs and the Dencos all the way to 8000 when I
shifted. What I noticed even more was that the bike would pull from
2000-2500 without stuttering. I had never ridden an H1 that would accelerate
from 2000 RPM...I didn't think it was possible. I couldn't just snap
the throttle and go, but I could roll it on easy and it would go! The
Denco's and the SpecII's wouldn't allow that until I was well over 2500.
I found out on a ride to one of the State Parks near Ed's home, just
how well behaved your pipes were at low RPM. I could tell throughout
the ride that I was in a higher gear than Ed, but it wasn't until I
came to a rolling stop, that I found out how well behaved it was at
the bottom. We came to a stop sign and had to make a right. I slowed
down to almost a crawl, dropped 1 gear, saw nothing coming, started
to go and stalled the bike. Instead of being in 3rd and dropping to
2nd, I was in 4th and dropped to 3rd. At less than 10 MPH, no wonder
it stalled. I found this out when I tried to restart. I then realized
I had just ridden several miles at 20-25 MPH in 4th gear on an H1! No
bucking, no snorting, no coughing. I wouldn't have believed it had I
not been the one riding the bike. I rode Ed's other H1s over the course
of the weekend, and none of the others would have even thought about
performing like that at low RPM.
H2 Pipe review:
So I get my new H2 home and it has the J&R pipes on it because yours
haven't arrived yet. The bike runs well, pulls strong from 6000, tries
to wheelie (would rather spin the tire), and in general I have a lot
of fun with it. Then your pipes finally arrive. I bolt them on, following
your instructions for spacing things out, rejet my carbs on the rich
side, again following your instructions, and fire it up. Once I get
the jetting closer to what it should be, I notice a performance increase
on the top over the J&R pipes. Bottom is ok, but at 3500-4500, the
bike is a bit rough. One more jet change, and all hell breaks loose.
The bike is pulling well from just off idle, midrange is smooth and
strong, and at 5000, things start happening. At 6000, the bike just
jumps and goes. I can feel it starting at 5000, it gets quite a bit
stronger at 5500, and at 6000, hang on to 8500, shift, hang on, shift,
etc. This is on a stock motor other than a .040 overbore.
All I can say is that I
love the pipes that you make. You'll be getting an order for a set of
pipes for my H1 to replace the rusty stock pipes that are on it now.

They're absolutely awesome! NO KIDDING! These
things re-newed my confidence that H2's can still compete with
the plastic junk they're ramming down our throats now-days. I'm
looking for a place that can dyno a 2-stroke around here. I had
a place that I used to use, but they went out of business about
a year ago. I've never ridden a two-stroke that runs like my bike
does now. STG3 porting - it rides around town nicely, and pulls
HARD to 10,000+. WHat more can you ask for?
NO $HIT! I STILL CAN'T BELEIVE HOW THESE PIPES

Success. Went to a vintage bike rally yesterday and the H2 caused a
commotion. Rode with friends on torque monsters, Ducattis, through the
hills. They love sound, say it's not too loud. I agree. Everyone loves
the pipes and I had many requests to start it. At idle it sounds so
cool!
Power is decent to 5, then gets on pipe. At 7
it goes wild (Much faster than my old race bike) and flies. Not sure
where it turns off, I've only got one real ride on it. These Powerjet
Lectrons may make difference in top end feel vs non-powerjets. Still
perfecting metering rod length for bottom end. May sharpen a bit more,
but is close at 52.1mm.
Thanks for great pipes! I told several your website.
I used Ultra Gray 625 degree silicone around flange of pipes as gasket-
we'll see how long it lasts. Unacceptable with oil leak and no gaskets.
So far silicone is fine. Bike is very fast and with decent midrange,
which was put to test riding with Ducattis.

Well, coat on, Brothers! It is great looking and shows off your welds.
Don't let anyone paint your pipes! My Stage One engine starts instantly,
and pulls fine at any speed. At 5,000 it gets good and
at 7,000 it goes insane. It doesn't
seem to stop. Is that typical for your pipes? They're great, well worth
the money! I also love these 36 mm power jet Lectrons
and will never regret the day I laid out $1,000 for them and those Gast
intake manifolds. Never again all those wasted hours tuning/ buying
parts for Mikunis.
Twelve sanding cones later, the Gast intakes and ports
were matched- a major change from stock shape. Anyone else running them?
Maybe they make a difference. They should in torque and top end, I think.
This thing runs fantastic! Hit it and pass anything
nearby.

Damn does this thing run great!
I put a 15 tooth sprocket on it, and I've always liked
that better. Lectrons gettting sharper and sharper-one more top- end
jet experiment, metering rods right length. Tomorrow I double check
and perfect syncronization. Hauls butt now! I'm doubtful that any other
classic bike can match the acceleration of a decent H2 w/ your pipes,
porting and Lectrons.

I'm real happy with them. Your welding gets lots
of comments.
Performance seems about the same as the Sp*cII's below 4k or so,
stronger above. I think I'm still running rich
at partial throttle
which may be hurting the low end, and will probably
tweak it some
more throughout the summer. I'm half tempted to install EGT probes
in each pipe and adjust mixture that way.
They fit fine, and of course don't leak at that
stupid collar/spring

It's been a little
while since I installed a set of Tom's pipes but we've had such
lousy weather that it's been hard to get a nice ride in. Today
was the day though. I like this bike better than ever! Low end
is great, the bike pulls from almost any rpm, hits like crazy
on the top and I asked Tom to make longer silencers which keeps
the noise levels down. And the center pipe doesn't hit my fender
anymore which means I don't have to run tons of air pressure in
the forks. Other mods this winter were shock extensions and EX500
caliper with HH pads. I'm planning to repaint later in the spring
and maybe work on the suspension some more. Life is good.

Nothing can prepare you for
your first ride with a set of FatCat Chambers! You only thought your
bike was fast! They will make a bone stock bike feel like a heavy stage
1 portjob. Bolt on power. Much cheaper than taking your engine apart
and you couldn't get this type of quality power with a stage 1 port
anyway. From idle to redline power increases are unreal!
| Tom I **finally**
developed and scanned pictures of my '72 H2 w/ your pipes. It
sure looks pretty. It's pretty close to stock cosmetically but
you can see a few '74/'75 bits (steering damper, chrome front
fender). But I dig it. Your pipes are killer, I am still working
on dialing in the jetting which is definately a fine art that
I have not yet mastered.
Thanks again! Hopefully this won't
fill up your mail box!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My long-awaited TomCat pipes have arrived and as anyone that has
ordered a set already knows, these are some bad-ass looking units.
The first thing I was struck by was the weight savings over the
stock units. A five foot long box with all three pipes weighed
in at 14 pounds. I thought maybe not all of the order was filled
or something at first.
The next pleasant surprise was how easy they installed. With the
stock pipes already removed, it took me about ten minutes. Having
done it once I could do it in five now.
Once installed and standing back to look, you just cant help but
notice how powerful they make a bike look. Those coffee can sized
diameters sure look tough! As the chick across the street said
"It looks soooo gangsta" I guess that's a compliment.
Can't wait to hear them. Thanks for the great work Tom! oh, and
btw, I like the way you forged the turn in the pipe where it goes
out from the cylinder back aft. A clever solution to what must
have been a really labor-intensive process previously.

For legal reasons, pipes are for OFF-ROAD USE ONLY!!!
I (Tomcat) build
custom roadrace exhaust pipes and dragracing exhaust pipes for the
H1 and H2 Triples! These expansion chambers are the most accurately
designed pipes made. They are not cut and turn pipes and there is
absolutely no tuned length lost in the cutting process! Tuned length
remains accurate. I take great pride in my work and want all of my
expansion chambers
to be the absolute best that can be obtained. This has turned out
to be a great hobby of mine. I love building pipes for the triples
and I plan to build many different types of chambers for the triples
to fill all of the voids. Many have emailed me asking for a touring
exhaust and I may
build one soon. Not all of us want to ride our triples like fools.
LOL I also have chambers for many different port specs. I can always
design them to match any port spec, but I have pipe designs for the
most common porting modifications. Porting your bike without new age
pipes is costing you horsepower. Those old outdated skinny (really
tiny) pipes are choking your engine. They were great pipes in their
day, but they have been replaced. Do you see those type of pipes on
the current GP roadracers? No.. you see big fat pipes. Look at the
current dirtbikes..... Big fat pipes. There is more to pipe development
than fat pipes, but in order to get more out of our engines, they
were going to have to be larger in diameter among other things. This
type of pipe can't be mass produced and fit the motorcycle. Each pipe
must be hand fitted to a real bike. Yes, I hand-fit every single expansion
chamber to a real motorcycle.
These pipes
perform!!! There is more power everywhere. I have owned every aftermarket
triple pipe there is I believe and nothing has ever compared to my
first ride with these new-generation pipes. Nothing. When I started
into building triple pipes, I had no idea that there would be a giant
gain in horsepower to be found in chamber development. I figured I
would just make them fit better than the aftermarket pipes we had
already. Well, it was a lesson learned. There is more to be found
in the way of horsepower by building better pipes. Power throughout
the rev range. Chambers
are the single most important modification to start with in making
the triples run fast and powerful.
If you have been down the same road as I have, you
will have your doubts about a pipe making that much more power than
your old brand-X chamber. I would fit one outdated brand after another
on and none of them seemed to do much in the way of power. Big gains
were just not happening. The pipes
I build give you BIG GIANT GAINS. Ported engines MUST
have a pipe like this. A ported engine with tiny old style pipes is
miserable to ride because the bike will have no bottom end power and
almost no cruising ability. My new-generation chambers do not exibit
this characteristic. In fact, some have told me that a H2 with a stage
11 type porting using my chambers has at least as much bottom end
as a stocker if not more. I am constantly striving to better the performance
of the exhaust. We have never had access to a chamber that would make
a triple run like this until now. Take advantage of technology!
Don't take my word for it, check out my message board
and ask some of the guys that own them.
You do not have to
destroy your bike to put these chambers on. They don't rub the frame,
and you don't have to cut anything off of your bike. They bolt up
much like the stock pipes do. I can even make them very quiet. You
will have to remove you centerstand.
For less money,
you can get a whole lot less pipe! My chambers
are not copies of an existing pipe. They are designed from
scratch specifically for the Kawasaki Triple using TSR TwoStroke Software.
I can build racing pipes for many other two strokes motorcycles. Email
me with your needs.

Think you want a set? Click

Why are these pipes better than the old stuff we have been
stuck with for years? I didn't build a pipe that would fit the bike. I built
a pipe and then tried to figure out how in the world
I was going to fit it on the bike. These pipes
are hand built and each one is fitted to a real bike. Past pipe manufacturers
did not do this. I am a low volume pipe builder and I concentrate on performance
and fitment. I have accomplished both for the Kawasaki Triples. I am always
working to better the performance of the triples.
Many thanks to Tom Turner of TSR
Software for the hours on hours he has helped me in the design of these
very powerful pipes.

I
also do pipe repair on dirtbike and vintage street bikes. |
I can repair most types
of two-stroke exhausts at a fraction of the cost of a replacement chamber.
Many of the vintage chambers you can't replace at all.
Watch
this neat movie of the pipes in action!
...all of my chambers are custom made.

Updates:
No more junk!!!! We have enough already! These
pipes are for performance and they might not be for you. With better chambers,
we can get more power out of our engines without having to port them as radical.
More power everywhere is the key. These pipes typically start pulling at least
2-grand earlier and rev a grand more on the top (on average)than the old outdated
aftermarket pipes and have more over-rev incorporated into the design. TSR
Software designed pipes are the answer. Using the latest technology has
helped me develop a chamber that the triples deserved years ago.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CUT ANYTHING OFF YOUR FRAME
TO FIT THESE PIPES!!!
I can port your cylinders and supply you with
pipes to match the port specs. I can build a pipe to match the portspecs you
already have. So what are you waiting for?

I have many different designs of the same pipes,
so ask me if you don't see the pipe you like, I may build it and not show
it on the website. I can also build custom pipes of your design. These will
cost more money of course. I am currently working on pipes for all the triples.
There isn't another bike like the Kawasaki Triple.
Don't short-change yourself riding with pipes that compromise power so they
will fit on the bike. The triple is one of the best motorcycles in the world
and it deserves a pipe that will help it live up to the legend.
More pics are coming soon.
